That’s what happened in this accident, an example of why it’s important for drivers to be aware of cyclists. The bicyclist was killed following an accident in Cambridge. According to the story, the cyclist was a 27-year-old woman who had been headed toward the intersection of Hampshire and Cambridge Street at around 12:15 p.m.
There, she was hit by a landscaping truck, but that’s not the whole story. The news reports that the woman had to swerve or was hit by the door of an SUV, which knocked her into the path of the oncoming truck.
The Traffic, Parking & Transportation Department reports that there have been 69 crashes in that intersection between 2008 and 2012, with 15 involving cyclists. In this case, the woman did not survive her injuries.
