Early morning Cambridge accident results in death of pedestrian

4/12/2013

An East Boston man is dead following an early morning collision in East Cambridge on April 3. The car accident occurred near the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Land Boulevard where the 67-year-old man was walking, according to police. The pedestrian was pronounced dead after he was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital following the crash.

The man was struck by a Hyundai Sonata driven by a 40-year-old Cambridge resident, who reportedly cooperated with authorities after the fatal crash. The driver was uninjured, and it is unclear what caused the accident or who was at fault. The investigation is ongoing, and if, during the investigation, it is found that the driver was distracted or impaired, he could face charges such as vehicular manslaughter or negligence.

Relatives of the deceased may decide to consult an attorney to seek compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, or wrongful death. A knowledgeable personal injury lawyer can help answer their questions and explore their legal options during the emotional time following the sudden death of their family member.

Additionally, when Massachusetts or New Hampshire residents are injured in a car accident, they often have to work with insurance companies to get a fair settlement for car repairs, lost wages and medical bills as a result of the crash. Attorneys can be beneficial in this process as well and help file the necessary paperwork, sort through crime scene photographs and information detailed in the police reports of the collision and help victims and their families get the compensation they deserve.
