Accidente mortal de coche en Gloucester: mujer procesada

1/3/2013

In Gloucester, a fatal accidente de tráfico occurred involving a Gloucester woman, a police officer and an Ipswich victim who died in the incident. The negligent driver was a 52-year-old female and was arraigned on charges including operating a vehicle after suspension, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lane violation.

According to the police report, the woman was driving on Essex Street around 8:30 p.m. when she crashed into another vehicle driven by an off-duty Massachusetts State police officer. The passenger in the officer’s car was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. The officer consented to blood and urine analysis and tested negative for drugs and alcohol.

Pending payment of $25,000 cash bail, the judge ordered that the woman would be placed under house arrest. She was also ordered to not operate a car until the case is over. The accident is still under investigation, and the woman may face more charges when she returns to court in January.

Unfortunately, not everyone on the road is always attentive, especially in an age when drivers may be using a cell phone while driving. In addition to the woman being charged by authorities, the victims and their families may seek a civil action for personal injury or wrongful death. Victims of car accidents may be entitled to financial compensation for damages, medical costs, and pain and suffering caused by the crash. Such victims often to seek the help of an attorney to represent them in making these personal injury claims.
