Un accidente en Haverhill causa daños en dos negocios

2/27/2013

After hitting the gas pedal rather than the brake pedal, a woman crashed into the front doors of two businesses in the Academy Plaza in Haverhill on Feb. 20. The woman was driving a BMW sport utility vehicle and had two children in the vehicle when the accidente de tráfico occurred; they were not injured by the crash. Police and the fire department rescue squad both responded at the scene of the accident.

The woman crashed the SUV into a nail salon and a restaurant. At the time of the accident, the restaurant had been open and serving customers, but the nail salon was closed, and the nail salon’s owners arrived after the accident occurred. No one was hurt when the SUV careened into the building. A waitress who was working at the time of the accident likened it to the sound of “two big dumpsters getting dropped to the ground.”

The crash resulted in damage to the glass doorways of both businesses and the molding around their doors; however, there was no structural damage to the building. Both businesses were temporarily closed for repairs. The police have stated that there will be no charges filed against the driver of the SUV.

The driver was fortunate that no one was injured in the Haverhill accident, but the damages to the nail salon and the restaurant may have been extensive. In addition to building repairs, it’s possible that furniture, fixtures and equipment had to be replaced. The businesses also lost revenue while they were closed for repairs. A personal injury lawyer may be able to help the owners of the businesses recover the cost of the repairs and may also be able to help the owners get compensation for lost revenue and any pain and any trauma experienced by their customers.
