Consejos para jóvenes conductores de Massachusetts

10/4/2013

According to information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, nearly 2,000 drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 were killed in 2011, and 180,000 were injured in accidents. This represents a one percent increase in driver deaths between 2010 and 2011. Due to the proliferation of technology and social media, many young drivers are a danger to themselves. However, by following a few basic guidelines suggested by the chairman at Vanderbilt Emergency Medicine, teens and young adults can go a long way to avoid a accidente de tráfico.

One of the biggest issues for young drivers is distractions in the vehicle. This can either be a car full of boisterous friends or a cell phone. Either way, having distractions in the car may prevent motorists from being able to keep their full attention on the road, putting them at risk for an avoidable collision. Drivers should focus on keeping their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel. Tailgating is also something that young drivers should avoid. When someone follows another vehicle too closely, they are at risk for getting into an avoidable rear-end collision.

Since accidents are always a risk, drivers of all ages should always wear a seat belt. Without a seat belt, people are at risk for far greater injuries or even death if they are in an accident. Of those thrown from a car, 77 percent suffer fatal injuries.

Whatever the cause of a car accident, it can do enormous damage to people and vehicles. If someone has been in a collision, a lawyer could help them understand their options for pursuing compensation for medical bills and vehicle repair costs, and a lawyer could also negotiate with insurance companies.
