Un peatón de West Dennis atropellado por un presunto conductor ebrio

2/20/2013

On the evening of Feb. 6, a pedestrian was hit on Stanton Avenue in the city of South Yarmouth. The accident occurred at approximately 7:40 p.m. when an allegedly drunk driver hit the man, causing serious injuries. The driver has recently had charges brought against him for his role in the accidente de tráfico.

The 30-year-old pedestrian was transported to Tufts Medical Center in Boston. Yarmouth police reported that he was transported by a MedFlight helicopter. Details about the extent of the man’s injuries are unavailable, but given that he was taken by helicopter for treatment, they may be considerable.

This is the third time that the alleged drunk driver has been charged for operating under the influence of alcohol; although, according to paperwork filed with the Barnstable District court, because of an agreement made between attorneys, this charge is listed as his second offense. An additional felony charge of operating under the influence of alcohol resulting in serious injury and negligent driving has also been filed. The man has pleaded not guilty and is being held at Yarmouth Police Headquarters.

The pedestrian may face extensive rehabilitation for his injuries. He may also face substantial medical expenses, especially if his hospital stay is an extended one. An attorney can help determine if the alleged drunk driver was negligent. If he was, then a qualified personal injury attorney may be able to help hold the driver liable for his actions; he or she can also plan a strong case that may help the man get compensation for medical expenses and for the pain and suffering the accident caused.
